Perched on the banks of the Bardez River, Colvale Fort, or Fortaleza de São Sebastião de Colvale, is a fading yet significant piece of Goa’s history. Built in 1635 by Viceroy D. Captured by the Marathas in 1739 and reclaimed by the Portuguese in 1741, the fort housed a small garrison before being abandoned in the 1840s.
