Ezharakund Waterfalls

Situated in the scenic Paithalmala valley of Kannur district, Ezharakund Waterfalls is a beautiful natural retreat in North Kerala. Its unique structure, featuring seven cascading tiers and rocky natural pools, makes it a remarkable destination for nature lovers. A Scenic Trek Through Nature’s Canvas

The waterfall is reached after a 2 2-kilometer trek from the Chathamala Facility Centre, where the trail winds through dense greenery and shaded forest paths. As you ascend, the distant roar of water gradually grows louder, building anticipation for the view ahead. Each level of the falls is like a natural basin—rocky pools of varying depths, some safe for swimming under watchful supervision. The uppermost levels offer spectacular views, where the water appears to flow like stacked kettles spilling into each other, creating a rare and photogenic landscape.

The area is managed by the District Tourism Promotion Council (DTPC), which has developed excellent infrastructure to ensure visitor comfort and safety. The entire experience, from the forest trek to the refreshing swim in crystal-clear waters, is a blend of adventure and rejuvenation, making Ezharakund a must-visit for anyone exploring North Malabar.

Visitor Information

Swimming is permitted in designated natural pools, with lifeguards on duty and life jackets provided for safety. Additional facilities include changing rooms, clean restrooms, ample parking, and a small café near the entrance offering refreshments. The entry fee is INR 100 per person, which covers access to safety gear and maintenance of the site. These amenities ensure a comfortable and secure visit for all guests.
