Thangassery Beach

Thangassery Beach is a popular beach located at Thangassery in the Kollam district of Kerala. The beach is located just 7 kilometers away from Kollam city and is very well known for its lighthouse [Thangassery Lighthouse], which is the second-tallest lighthouse on the Kerala coast. The lighthouse offers a stunning view of the breakwater, a small fishing harbor, and Kollam city.

It was one of the preferred settlement locations for the British, the Portuguese, and the Dutch. The best time to enjoy the beach is during the evenings, and the lighthouse is open between 10 AM to 1 PM and 2 PM to 6 PM on all days except Mondays. Thangassery beach is located about 71 km away from Thiruvananthapuram, the state capital. The nearest railway station is Kollam railway station (3.5 kilometers), and the closest airport is Thiruvananthapuram International Airport, which is 68 kilometers away from Thangassery.
