Maruthimala is filled with rocks and lush green and the view of pristine nature from the top of the hill is an unforgettable experience.

Maruthumala, which is 1100 feet above sea level, acts as a mirror, reflecting Kollam’s vistas back to it. Maruthimala gives visitors the chance to take in Kollam’s lush environment when they are above the sky and beneath the clouds. Despite being the inhabitants of Kollam’s permanent sanctuary, this place has only recently become known to those in neighboring districts.

Visitors can enjoy a beautiful view at Marutumpara, where three large rocks—Kasturi Para, Bhagavan Para, and Katadi Para—meet. The Arappathayam, Vasurapara, and Pulichan rocks are also found here. The recurring lakes on top of the rocks are another highlight of this location. The fact that you can come here safely with your family draws more visitors.

There is no fee to enter Maruthimala Eco Tourism and is open all days of the week from 9 AM to 5 PM. The best time to visit this place is in the mornings or evenings, from November to March. Marutimala is located in Veliyam village panchayat in Kottarakkara taluk of Kollam district. It is the northwestern border of Veliyam gram panchayat. The distance from Kollam to Muttara Marutimala is 24.3 km via Kundara. One can reach the entrance by road and trek for 30 minutes to reach the top, hence it is highly recommended you carry water with you.
