Chembra Peak in Wayanad is a nature lover’s paradise, surrounded by rolling hills, sprawling tea plantations, and verdant valleys. Chembra Peak Trekking: Charges, Entry Fees, Timings, Route
To embark on this adventure, visitors need to be mindful of the entry fees, with INR 20 per person, INR 30 for foreigners, INR 15 for students, and additional charges for trekking, camera use, and parking. The peak welcomes enthusiasts throughout the week from 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, with trekking permitted between 7:00 AM and 12:00 PM.
The best time to explore is during the winter months from December to February. Starting the trek in the early morning is recommended. Enjoying the crispness of the morning air and the gentle sunlight is an invigorating experience that will leave you feeling refreshed.
Trekking to Chembra Peak covers a distance of 4.5 kilometers, providing a moderate challenge that rewards trekkers with panoramic views from the watchtower and the heart-shaped pond. Only 200 people are allowed daily, with a group trekking charge of INR 750 for 10 people, and INR 75 per extra person. The forest department’s permission is a prerequisite for this adventure.
For a comfortable visit, basic fitness is recommended, and carrying water, snacks, and wearing suitable footwear is essential. Trekkers should stay on marked trails and return before sunset. Guides are available for a more enriching experience. The peak is easily accessible, located 17 kilometers from Kalpetta, with buses or cabs to/from Kalpetta or Meppadi.
The trekking is permitted only to the heart-shaped lake, covering a round-trip distance of 7 kilometers. The trek is of moderate difficulty, requiring basic fitness. The charges include a trekking permit and camping. The area is a plastic-free zone, with a security deposit for those carrying plastic bottles.
