Akkulam Tourist Village is one of the most visited and very popular tourist destinations located in Thiruvananthapuram city of Kerala. Located 10 kilometers away from the city center, Akkulam is a picturesque spot and the park is set along the banks of the serene Akkulam lake. Akkulam is one of the most visited places in the Thiruvananthapuram district and a perfect picnic spot to spend a day with your loved ones.

The tourist village was established by the District Tourism Promotion Council (DTPC) of Thiruvananthapuram to promote tourism and leisure activities in the area. The park is spread over 10 acres of land and has been developed with various facilities and attractions for visitors.

Oracle Boating:

There are a few boating options visitors can opt for. One can choose from pedal boats, row boats, or speed boats and enjoy a scenic ride on the tranquil waters. The boating facility is open from A AM to 6 PM and charges vary depending on the type of boat and duration

Children’s Park:

If you are visiting with kids, then they will love spending time at the children’s park, which has various rides, slides, swings, and other play equipment. The park also has a paddling pool where kids can splash around safely. The park is open from 8 AM to 8 PM on all days of the week.

Air Force Museum:

Another attraction at Akkulam Tourist Village is the Air Force Museum which showcases various models of aircraft used by the Indian Air Force along with their history and specifications. You can also experience flying a simulator inside the museum which gives you a realistic feel of being a pilot. The museum is open from 10 AM to 6:30 PM.

Swimming Pool:

If you want to beat the heat or enjoy some water sports, then head to the swimming pool which has separate sections for adults and kids. The pool is well-maintained and it has changing rooms and lockers available. The charge per hour for the swimming pool is INR 50 for children and INR 100 for adults.

Apart from these, Akkulam Tourist Village features attractions such as a light and sound theatre and a cycling park.

Glass Bridge

The Akkulam Glass Bridge, constructed for one and a half crores, stands at a height of 75 feet and spans 52 meters in length. It can accommodate up to 20 people simultaneously. An additional fee will be charged if you would like to experience the walk on the glass bridge.
