The Alappuzha Lighthouse (also known as the Alleppey Light) is located in the Kerala coastal town of Alappuzha. It was constructed in 1862 and is a popular tourist destination. Every weekday between 3 PM and 4:30 PM, visitors are welcome for a cost of 30 rupees for Indian nationals and 60 rupees for foreigners. This is the first of its kind along Kerala’s Arabian Sea coast.
The current lighthouse was built during the time of His Highness Marthanda Varma-II Maharaja (Travancore’s ruler) and completed during the reign of His Highness Rama Varma Maharaja of Travancore.
