Attappadi Hills (Reserve Forest) is a 249-square-kilometer protected area in Kerala’s Palakkad district, covering the westernmost portion of the 745-square-kilometer Attappady block of Mannarkkad Taluk. It is one of India’s many protected and reserved forests.

The majority of this magnificent and alluring village town in Kerala is protected by the government as a Reserve Forest area. Attappadi has a hilly landscape and is surrounded by mountains, trees, and rivers.
Attappadi is located on the edge of the Silent Valley Reserve forest, 40 kilometers away from Palakkad town, 20 kilometers from Mannarkkad town. The verdant landscape, meandering rivers, and mountain slopes with dense forests attract nature lovers and anthropologists. Tribes such as the Irulas and Mudugars live in the region, which has a complex relationship with humans and nature.
Attapaddi Hills is the place to go if you want to capture exotic animals in your camera rolls. The Wanderoo, also known as the lion-tailed macaque, can be seen. Spotted deer, Nilgiri langur, forest cats, various species of mammals and reptiles, and other unusual animals can be seen here.
This region is traversed by the Bhavani River. The Malleswaram hill, where the indigenous people of the area worship a massive Shivalinga, is a significant landmark. The Shivarathri festival is widely observed by the tribes in this region. Don’t miss to visit Malleswaram Mudi, Perumal Mudi, Kunthi River, and Nilgiri Biosphere Park at Attapadi.
