Cheppara Caves is located in the Thekkumpara panchayath of the Thrissur district of Kerala, 15 kilometers from the Thrissur town near Poomala dam. These rocks are called mausoleums. Such structures are also known as Munimadas. The Munirs of Cheppara can be seen on the top of a large rock with a cave and a special arrangement of stones on top of it. A protective fence has been erected around it. Cheppara Caves is an ideal destination for history buffs and off-road riders alike.
A lake surrounded by rock formations, a panoramic view from atop the rocks formations with, panoramic view from atop the rocks, and dolmens are the main attractions (Muniyara). From Cheppara, one can see Wadakkanchery and Thrissur City, and the view is spectacular. Handles to assist people in trekking, seats to relax, fencing around dolmens, electric lamps, and toilets for differently-abled people have all been installed as part of the village eco-tourism initiative.
Cheppara is a perfect spot for trekking, photography, and sunset watching. It is recommended to avoid visiting this place during the noon times of the summer days, the best time to visit Cheppara is in the evenings preferably after 5 PM as you will love the scenic sunset.
