Dharmadam Island: A Hidden Gem Amidst the Coconut Trees
Dharmadam land was taken over by the Kerala government for tourism growth in 1998. Aside from the tall coconut trees, this location is enhanced by the presence of colorful orchids. The brown rocks that surround this area complete the color palette. The island’s most striking characteristic is well positioned on the island’s western shore, which is not saline.
The water recedes at low tide, allowing tourists to walk across to the island. It is not advisable to visit this place without first seeking advice from the locals, as the water can rise very quickly during high tide. One can also take a boat from the Moidu Bridge’s south end, which is nearby on the Kannur-Thalassery highway. Since there are no restaurants on this island, remember to bring your own food with you. Dharmadam Island is a private island and entry is only permitted with prior permission.
