Ezhimala

Ezhimala, a seven-peaked mountain about 55 kilometers from Kannur, is a popular tourist destination. Payyannur is 7 kilometers away from the mountainous region, which rises to a height of roughly 286 meters above sea level. Ezhimala is a significant historical landmark since it was once the capital of the ancient Mushika Kingdom. Around the beginning of the Common Era, it was a thriving seaport and trading city, as well as one of the primary battlegrounds of the Chola-Chera Wars in the 11th century. Some people believe that Buddha visited Ezhimala.

A hike up the hill shows the ruins of a mosque, which are thought to house the remains of Muslim reformist Shaikh Abdul Latheef.  The visitor’s memory will be carved for a long time by the majestic calm of the mountain top and the lush lowlands. The Mount Dilli lighthouse, the ruins of an old fort nearby, and a shrine dedicated to Lord Hanuman may all be seen from Ezhimala. The Indian Naval Academy is a significant institution in this city. To visit the Academy, you must first obtain authorization.
