Kalpathy Heritage Village is located near Palakkad town and is considered one of Kerala’s most beautiful and significant heritage preserves. Its cultural heritage will take you back to the old Brahmin culture. You can see the customs that have been passed down over the centuries, perhaps for thousands of years, and are still going strong.
Kalpathy, which is known for its distinctive architecture, music, and Rathotsavam (chariot festival), is set to become the state’s first heritage village. Old Kalpathy and New Kalpathy will be part of the village, which will span 22.36 hectares. This tiny village’s beauty is enhanced by its folklore and amazing way of life. Furthermore, architectural modifications are forbidden here, so the people’s lifestyle is raw and authentic.
The Brahmin community streets also known as Agraharam was built by the Brahmins who migrated from the nearby state of Tamilnadu. One of the main attractions is the Kundambalam temple, which is the center of Rathotsavam, the temple chariot festival, which dates back to AD 1425.
