Located in the Kanthalloor village of the Idukki district of Kerala, Kanthalloor Waterfalls is a 20-meter-high waterfall set in the wilderness overlooking a scenic valley. One can enjoy a shower under the falls if you can brave the cold water or just admire the beauty of nature from a distance.
Things to Do at Kanthalloor Waterfalls
Swimming enthusiasts can take a refreshing dip in the pool beneath the waterfall, and some adventurous souls even prefer to shower under it. However, the path leading to the waterfall is a narrow, steep trail strewn with rocks and mud. Kanthalloor boasts a plethora of camping and trekking trails, stunning waterfalls, caves, hills, lush vegetation, and diverse flora and fauna.
The village is ensconced amidst verdant hills, deep valleys, and picturesque farmlands, rendering it an idyllic location for photography. Kanthalloor is a picturesque village in the western ghats and it attracts visitors with its unique diverse range of plantations and farms. Visitors can also take in the breathtaking scenery from the Kanthalloor View Point which provides a spectacular view of the valley below. Finding Route, Timings, and Stay
The best time to visit the falls is between October and February when the weather is pleasant and the water flow is moderate. Avoid visiting the falls during the monsoon season, from June to October, as the water level may be too high and dangerous. There is no fee for entry or parking and the waterfall can be accessed every day. However, avoid visiting after 5 pm, as the area gets too dark and to be safe from wild animals.

Kanthalloor Waterfalls is located around 12 kilometers away from Marayoor and 47 kilometers from Munnar. To reach the falls, one has to take a deviation from the Munnar-Marayoor road at Kanthalloor junction and follow the signboards for about 2.5 kilometers to reach near the falls. The last stretch of the road is narrow and steep, so it is advisable to drive carefully or hire a local jeep. There is a short trek of about 500 meters from the road. The path is narrow and filled with boulders and mud, so be careful and wear comfortable shoes.
