Historically, Kappad Beach has played a big part in Kerala’s history. On these coasts, in 1498, more than five hundred years ago, 170 men led by Vasco-da-Gama first entered Kerala. Without a visit to this iconic site, a trip to Kozhikode is incomplete. This beach is located around 16 kilometers from Calicut city and near to Koyilandy.
Via this beach, the spice route prospered. One gets an understanding of its historical significance from a stroll in and around the location. It brings to its beauty the rocks and tiny hills. With outstanding local delicacies and tea, the surrounding shacks are still stocked. It is possible to spot migratory birds sometimes as well. A truly magnificent resort, Kappad Beach will still hold an important role in our culture. The 800-year-old temple near the beach is another major attraction of Kappad beach.
