Krishnapuram Palace or Krishnapuram Kottaram is a historical palace and museum located at Krishnapuram near Kayamkulam in the Alappuzha district of Kerala. It was built in the 18th century by Anizham Thirunal Marthanda Varma, the king of Travancore. The palace is built in traditional Pathinarukettu Kerala-style architecture with gabled roofs, narrow corridors, thick-framed doors, and dormer windows. The rooms are built around four inner courtyards called Nadumuttams.
Krishnapuram Palace is known for its impressive mural of Gajendramoksham, one of the largest in the state, as well as its museum showcasing antique sculptures, paintings, and bronzes. While the palace’s age is uncertain, it underwent renovations in the 18th century and is presently safeguarded as a monument by the Archaeology Department.
