Tucked away deep inside the lush Cotigao Wildlife Sanctuary, Kuskem Waterfall is a stunning, relatively untouched gem. Located near Kuskem village, about 10-15 km from the sanctuary’s entrance along the Karwar highway, the waterfall can be reached by a short 15-minute walk from the village. The journey to the falls is a scenic one, taking visitors through streams and dense jungles, offering a beautiful glimpse of Goa’s untamed natural beauty.
Kuskem Waterfall: A Hidden Oasis in Goa
Kuskem Waterfall is at its most majestic during the monsoon season, with August being the ideal time to visit. An entry fee of INR 20 per person is required to enter the sanctuary, and is open between 7 AM and 5 PM.
However, this also means the waterfall’s flow is strongest during this period, and the surrounding area becomes more challenging to navigate. Visitors are advised to avoid weekends when Kuskem village can get crowded. The area remains serene during weekdays, making it a perfect escape for those seeking tranquility.
Reaching Kuskem village can be tricky due to narrow roads, and parking can be limited, so planning ahead is crucial. Near the parking area, a small house offers simple, local food such as eggs, fish, and wadas, providing a nice break before or after the hike. For adventurous souls, climbing the hill behind the waterfall provides an authentic rainforest experience, with a well-marked path leading to a beautiful view of the surrounding wilderness.
