Malampuzha Rock Garden which is the first of its sort in South India is managed and maintained by the District Tourism Promotion Council of Palakkad. The Rock Garden opened on January 7, 1996, in a facility constructed by Palakkad’s District Nirmithi Kendra. Padmasree Neck Chand Saini, the creator of India’s first rock garden in Chandigarh, conceptualized and designed this remarkable collection of artwork.
Waste materials such as used plastic bottles and cans, waste bits of Tiles, Granites, Stones, Electricity Fuse Carriers, Power Insulators, Broken Bangles, Melamine Dishware, and other items are utilized to create the artifacts on show. The Western Ghats’ winding mountain ranges in the background add to the garden’s breathtaking charm. The Rock Garden is 800 meters to the south of the Malampuzha Dam.
