Paravur Lake, also known as Paravur Kayal, is a small lake located in Paravur town of Kollam district of Kerala. Paravur Lake is a popular tourist destination in Kollam, attracting a good number of tourists. The lake offers breathtaking panoramic views from the mountain patios situated north and east of the place. The lake has an area of 6.62 km² and is the endpoint of the Ithikkara River. It is part of the Kerala Backwaters, which is a network of interconnected canals, lagoons, and lakes lying parallel to the Arabian Sea coast. Paravur Lake has been connected to Edava and Ashtamudi Lakes as part of the Trivandrum – Shoranur canal system since the late 19th century. The renowned Lakesagar Xavier’s resort can be found on the banks of Paravur lake, and nearby is the popular Priyadarshini boat club. Paravur lake is also known for its beautiful mangroves lining both sides.
