History of Poomully Mana
Poomully Mana Ayurveda Centre, established in 1997, has become one of the de facto leaders in research and studies regarding Ayurveda, Kalari, Yoga, and other traditional art forms. The treatments at Poonmully Mana are performed using their distinct approach, which is renowned for its excellence and steeped in ancient wisdom that has been handed down through the family for centuries.
The Poomully Mana was a Namboothiri family that lived in Ūrakam of the Peruvanam village around 900 years ago. They constructed the original Ammathiruvadi Temple, donated all their possessions to the temple, and entrusted the temple administration to the Kingdom of Kochi. Then they left the village and resettled themselves in Peringode of the present-day Palakkad, nearby Ottappalam.
In the past, a large sprawling “Pathinaarukettu” stood as a symbol of affluent pride in a 5.5-acre compound located in Peringode, a village blessed with rustic serenity, near Koottanad in Palakkad. The building complex which was a tribute to Kerala Vaastu Vidya was eventually demolished, and on the foundations of this, a smaller building was constructed.
A Heritage of Ayurveda and Culture
Poomully Mana today is a popular Ayurveda treatment center managed by highly skilled doctors and therapists from the Poomully family. As the center’s name suggests, it is more like a home surrounded by nature than a traditional treatment center. The belief is that effective healing involves not only medication but also the patient’s mindset, environment, and support system. Therefore, this center provides the ideal environment for treatment. Patients are treated like family by friendly staff who provide regular cleaning, on-time treatment and meals, and fresh medicine preparation.
