Sagarika Marine Research Aquarium

Sagarika Marine Research Aquarium or Vizhinjan Aquarium managed and administered by the Central Marine Fisheries Institute is one of the must-visit places in the Thiruvananthapuram district of Kerala. The aquarium is located just 2 kilometers away from Kovalam and 20 kilometers away from Thiruvananthapuram city. The Sagarika Marine Research Aquarium is one of India’s most well-known aquariums and is home to a wide array of marine species like squirrel fish, clownfish, lionfish, triggerfish, giant turtles, sharks, moon wrasse, surgeonfish, etc.

The Aquarium is open from 9:30 AM to 5:00 PM all days of the week. The entry fee for Sagarika Marine Research Aquarium is INR 20 for adults, INR 10 for children, and an additional fee is applied for cameras. One can access the aquarium easily by road, the nearest railway station is Thiruvananthapuram Central which is located 15 kilometers away and the closest airport is Thiruvananthapuram International Airport which is located 14 kilometers away from the Vizhinjan Aquarium.
