Thaickal Beach

Thaickal Beach is a small fishing hamlet located in the Alappuzha district of Kerala. It is situated near Cherthala, north of Alleppey, and is known for its serene atmosphere and beautiful sunset. Thaickal Beach is not frequented by tourists and is an offbeat beach destination. It is a part of the Arabian Sea and is not flat or wide like other beaches on the shore belt.

The beach is a stunning expanse of sand, complete with charming rock bridges flanking on either side. In the afternoon, visitors can relax under the shade of the coconut trees that dot the area. It’s an ideal spot for a photo shoot as it is not crowded. However, there are no nearby shops, and one must travel two kilometers to find any. This non-touristy location lacks amenities such as lifeguards, making swimming inadvisable. Nevertheless, Thaickal beach is perfect for those seeking solitude and breathtaking sunset views. If you are interested in fishing near Cherthala, this beach would be an excellent choice.

The beach is located near the pilgrimage spot Arthunkal, which is famous for the St. Andrews Forane Church, built-in 1581. Arthunkal beach (3 kilometers), Andhakaranazhi Beach (7 kilometers), Mararikulam Beach (9 kilometers), and Alappuzha beach (22 kilometers) are nearby Thaickal Beach. Thaickal beach is easily accessible by road but the narrow roads can be a hassle to park your vehicle. You can reach the beach by taking a bus or taxi from Alappuzha or Cherthala. The nearest railway station is at Cherthala located 6.5 kilometers away and the closest airport is Cochin international Airport which is located 64 kilometers away from Thaickal beach.
