Thalassery Fort or Tellicherry Fort is located in Thalassery (Tellicherry), a town in Kerala’s Kannur District. Tellicherry was one of Kerala’s most important European trading hubs. The Fort is situated on a ridge of low wooden hills that run down to the sea and are covered by natural waters. It has been the key entry point for the vast inter-rich land’s spices, hill goods, and timber.

The Thalassery Fort is a formidable historical monument built by the East India Company to demonstrate the imperial rulers’ strength. The Tellicherry Fort, which overlooks the sea and rises to a height of 10 meters, is oblong on the pian. It was constructed of laterite blocks with high round-holed walls and strong flanking bastions. The small redoubts that once stood on most of the outlying hills have long since vanished, but Tellicherry Fort is in good condition.
