Thangassery Light House

Thangassery Lighthouse (Tangasseri Lighthouse) is located in Tangasseri, Kollam, Kerala, India. The Cochin Directorate General of Lighthouses and Lightships maintains this lighthouses in the Kollam Metropolitan Area. The cylindrical lighthouse tower, which has been in operation since 1902 and is painted with white and red oblique stripes, stands at 41 meters (135 feet), making it the second tallest lighthouse on the Kerala coast. The Tangasseri Lighthouse is one of Kerala’s most popular tourist attractions.

Visitors are allowed access to the Thangassery Lighthouse 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM & 2:00 PM – 6:00 PM on all days except on Mondays. The entry fee to the lighthouse is INR 10 for children and Senior citizens, INR 20 for adults, INR 50 for foreign citizens, and INR 10 for Photography. Thangassery Lighthouse is just 7 kilometers away from Kollam town and one can reach here by road. The nearest railway station is at Kollam and the closest airport is Thiruvananthapuram International Airport which is 68 kilometers away from Thangasseri.
