Thenmala Dam

Thenmala Dam, also known as Parappar Dam, in the Kollam district of Kerala, is one of the most visited places in the region. Thenmala dam is built across the Kallada river and offers a breathtaking view from the top when you walk for a kilometer from the entrance. Thenmala Dam is Kerala’s second-largest irrigation project. The state’s longest reservoir is located there, and water from it is also used to generate electricity.

Boating facilities are also available in the reservoir along with several trekking, mountaineering, and hiking activities. It is recommended to carry water with you as one has to hike for a kilometer through steep roads and steps to reach the top of the dam.
