The annual rainfall average is more than 3500 mm, the highest in the district of Kozhikode.

The nearest railway station is Kozhikode (Calicut) railway station which is about 40 kilometers away from Urumi Dam. Once reach Calicut, you can take a bus or hire a taxi to reach the dam. The nearest airport is Calicut International Airport which is 39 kilometers away from Urumi Dam.
