Attractions and Activities
One of the main attractions in Adavi is coracle rafting or bowl boat riding. Coracles are circular bamboo boats that can accommodate up to four people. They are steered by experienced boatmen who will take you on a scenic ride along the river, surrounded by lush green forests and hills. You can enjoy the sights and sounds of wildlife, such as birds, monkeys, elephants, and deer, as well as the soothing flow of water. Coracle rafting is an ancient mode of transportation that has been revived as an eco-tourism initiative by the Kerala Tourism Development Corporation and the Department of Forests and Wildlife.
Another attraction in Adavi is the bamboo hut stay. Bamboo huts are cozy and comfortable cottages that are built on stilts over the river. They are equipped with basic amenities such as beds, fans, lights, and toilets. They offer a rustic and romantic experience for couples and families who want to spend a night close to nature. You can relax in your hut, watch the stars, listen to the crickets, and wake up to the chirping of birds. Bamboo hut stay is a great way to escape from the hustle and bustle of city life and reconnect with yourself and your loved ones.
Adavi Eco Tourism also offers other facilities and activities such as tree houses, trekking trails, camping sites, a children’s park, a watch tower, a butterfly park, an herbal garden, and a tribal museum. You can learn more about the rich flora and fauna of the region, as well as the culture and history of the tribal communities who live there. You can also indulge in some delicious local cuisine at the cafeteria or buy some souvenirs at the handicraft shop.
