Honoring Legacy and Celebrating Art
Established in 1975, the Krishna Menon Museum was created to commemorate the life and contributions of Shri V. K. Krishna Menon, India’s former Defence Minister and a prominent freedom fighter. The museum meticulously preserves his legacy through personal memorabilia such as his clothes, shoes, medals, and gifts received during his years of public service. It also features rare archival photographs and footage, offering a deeper understanding of his impactful political journey from a student activist to a global statesman.
Adjacent to the museum is a well-curated art gallery showcasing a stunning collection of 66 paintings, including masterpieces by legendary Indian artists Raja Ravi Varma and Raja Raja Varma. These artworks are complemented by fine sculptures in wood, ivory, and metal, offering a captivating view into India’s artistic traditions. The gallery, set in a 200-year-old colonial-style building that once served as the Collector’s Bungalow, exudes an old-world charm that enhances the visitor experience.
Sprawled across three acres, the campus also features a medicinal garden, a butterfly park, and open spaces that lend a sense of peace and reflection. The museum is not just a display space—it serves as a vibrant cultural hub hosting exhibitions, film screenings, seminars, and educational programs. Its library, stocked with Krishna Menon’s writings, and a 3D theatre for immersive historical storytelling, make it a dynamic destination for learners and thinkers alike.
