Asurankundu Dam is located on the Chelakkara River in the Thrissur district of Kerala, India. Asurankundu Dam is on the northern side of the Peechi-Vazhani Wildlife Sanctuary and is about 30 kilometers from Thrissur town. Turn right off the Vadakkanchery-Mulloorkara road and follow the forest path for a short distance to reach the forest department’s check-post. This is where you can get permission to go further inside and closer to the dam.
Asurankundu is a check dam and the serene surrounding and the forest offers a great trekking experience. The forest is accessible through a two-kilometer trek. Trekking is discouraged during the summer because even a small spark can start a wildfire, destroying the entire forest. The rainy season is the perfect time to stay.
The boat rides and the hanging bridge is the main attraction at this dam. There are no lifeguards at this place, so please refrain from entering the water. There is no entry fee to Asurankundu Dam and it is highly recommended to leave the place before it darks. The timings of the Asurankundu Dam are from 9 Am to 5 Pm.
The purpose of the Asurankundu dam is to collect water from the forests and hills that surround it. The irrigation department controls the dam, while the forest department owns the lane. On the northern side of the Peechi-Vazhani wildlife sanctuary is Asurankundu.

Asurankundu Dam is about 30 kilometers from Thrissur town. The nearest railway station is Vadakkanchery and the closest airport is Cochin international airport. You can get a bus from Vadakkanchery to Attur and from there hire an autorickshaw to reach the Asurankundu Dam.
