Cheena Kottaram

Cheena Kottaram or China Palace located in Kollam city is a rest house built in 1904 for Sri Mulam Tirunal Rama Varma, the then-King of Travancore. The palace was finished at the same time the Quilon-Madras rail line was put into service. It is a red-brick, one-story structure with seven rooms. In general, the Indo-Saracenic architecture of Cheena Kottaram is a synthesis of Indian, European, Islamic, and Moorish styles. The rest house’s initial architecture has undergone significant change throughout the years.
