Located in Benaulim, the Goa Chitra Museum showcases Goa’s rich agrarian heritage. Founded by artist and curator Victor Hugo Gomes in 2009, it has grown to house over 4,000 artifacts, including traditional farming tools, pottery, musical instruments, and colonial-era objects. Divided into sections like Goa Chitra, Goa Chakra, and Goa Cruti, the museum highlights different aspects of Goan and Indian history.
Set against an organic farm, the Goa Chitra Museum promotes sustainability and traditional agricultural practices. Guided tours last 45 minutes to an hour, with an entry fee of INR 300 per person. Photography is allowed, but videography is restricted. The best time to visit is from October to March when the weather is ideal for sightseeing. A visit to Goa Chitra offers a fascinating glimpse into the region’s cultural evolution, making it a must-see for history and heritage enthusiasts.
