Kadalur Point Lighthouse also known as Thikkodi lighthouse is situated in Kadalur near Koyilandi in Calicut (Kozhikode) district of Kerala. The lighthouse is situated on the coast of the Arabian sea in India with a distance of 35 kilometers from Calicut city. The lighthouse has a height of 34 meters and started to operate in 1907.
The lighthouse has 2 entrances and one can reach the tower by just walking about 200 meters from the second entrance. You can enter the lighthouse tower at your own risk and with a payment of prescribed fees. Children under the age of 3 years are exempted from the entree fee. The lighthouse offers a fantastic view and photography is permitted only on the prescribed fee.
Visitors are not allowed to enter the engine room or the staff quarters and other restricted areas. Umbrellas, walking sticks, and bags are not allowed inside the lighthouse tower. It is better to carry water with you if you are planning to climb the steps of the tower and enjoy the great view of Kadalur beach and Calicut city. We recommend you not to climb the tower if you fear heights.
