Koodalmanikyam Temple is the only ancient temple in India dedicated to the worship of Bharata, Rama’s third child, but Vishnu is the idol. Another name associated with the deity at Koodalmanikyam is ‘Sangameshwara’ (Lord of Confluence). In Kerala state, the temple is one of four that form a collection called “Nalambalam,” each temple dedicated to one of Ramayana’s four brothers: Rama, Bharata, Lakshmana, and Shatrughna.
The Koodalmanikyam Temple is one of Kerala’s most prominent temples, which was built before the 15th century, with lush green trees on one side and beautiful temple ponds on the other. Dedicated to Lord Bharatha who was Sree Rama’s brother, this temple is an amazing building that belongs to the ancient world with fresco wall paintings and four large ponds in the courtyard. The temple consists of an excellent gateway that portrays the ancient period in which it was constructed.
