Kottakkunnu Park is a tourist attraction situated in Malappuram in the state of Kerala. Kottakkunnu is located right in the heart of the town of Malappuram and draws many domestic and foreign visitors. Kottakkunnu, popular as Malappuram Marine Drive, is a garden on a slope.
Located on a sloping hill, the park provides a spectacular vista of the neighboring landscape. Dubbed “Kottakkunnu,” which translates to “the mount with the fort,” the park is famed for its historical importance and tranquil ambiance. It used to host an ancient fortress constructed by the Zamorin monarchs of Kozhikode and remnants of the fortification can still be observed on the hills. The citadel is regarded as one of the earliest built by the Zamorin dynasty.
