The Manpilavu Waterfall is located in the Neelupilavu village of Chittar, about 40 km from Pathanamthitta town. The Waterfall is surrounded by lush green forests and hills. The water cascades down from a height of about 30 feet, creating a pool at the bottom.
The Manpilavu Waterfall is a hidden gem and is accessible only by trespassing through private rubber plantations as there is no proper route. The falls are especially beautiful during the monsoon season, and the water is not deep. Despite the challenges of rough roads, difficult access for children and older adults, and no designated parking, visitors will find it worthwhile to trek through the deep woods to reach the falls.
While the place is usually not crowded, visitors should exercise caution near the waterfall due to its uncertain depth and slippery rocks. Manpilavu Waterfall is an ideal destination for those seeking a serene and stunning location, provided they respect the environment, navigate the challenging terrain, and approach the falls with caution.
The best time to visit the waterfall is during the monsoon season when the waterfall is at its peak, surrounded by a vibrant forest with various birds and butterflies. There is no entry fee for the falls and visitors to the falls can also explore nearby attractions such as the Perunthenaruvi Waterfall, Panamkudantha Waterfalls, and Sabarimala Temple.
