Located in the historic Nunnery of Santa Monica in Old Goa, the Museum of Christian Art is a must-visit for art and history enthusiasts. Established in 1994, the museum was initially housed in the Rachol Seminary before moving to the 17th-century convent, which also includes the Chapel of the Weeping Cross. The museum is a collaboration between the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, Portugal, and INTACH, New Delhi, and houses a rich collection of over five centuries of artistic works that merge Indian and European styles.

Visitors will find a wide range of exhibits, including sculptures, paintings, liturgical objects, jewelry, furniture, and textiles. The museum’s unique collection features items like a portable altar used for eucharistic celebrations, a sculpture of Nirmala Matha that blends Hindu goddess style with Christian themes, and famous works such as the Infant Jesus Saviour of the World and Holy Trinity statues. The museum also showcases intricate jewelry, including a gold-platinum chain and pectoral cross, along with medieval European-Mughal embroidery on priestly vestments. Visitors can admire paintings that depict stories from the Old and New Testaments, many framed in 17th-century style.

The entry fee is INR 100 for adults and INR 50 for students.
