Nestled deep within a private property lies a breathtaking destination worth the trek. While it’s a fair distance to walk, the end result is entirely satisfying. The beauty of this waterfall with its multiple cascades at different levels makes it well worth the effort to visit.
Since vehicles won’t be able to reach the waterfall directly, you may need to park your two-wheeler a little further away and walk for around five minutes to reach the spot. Upon reaching the destination, you’ll be rewarded with the sight of two stunning waterfalls. However, do exercise caution when climbing the slippery rocks. It’s best to avoid venturing too close to the edge of the top waterfall since it marks the top of the second waterfall.

Pampanal Falls is a stunning three-tiered waterfall that’s perfect for nature lovers and trekking enthusiasts. Originating from the upper slopes of Mattathipara Hill, this hidden gem is located in the Kottayam district near Manathur on the Pala-Thodupuzha road. The waterfalls are located 13 kilometers away from Thodupuzha and 43 kilometers away from Kottayam town.
To get there, travel about 16 kilometers on the Pala-Thodupuzha main road from Pala and look for the bypass road at the junction in Manathur. From there, it’s just a 3 kilometers journey to the waterfall. The nearest Railway Station is Pala located 16 kilometers away and the nearest airport is Cochin International Airport located 61 kilometers away.
The best time to visit Pampanal Waterfalls is during the monsoon season, from June to September, when the falls are at their most majestic. However, if you’d prefer milder weather, you can visit between October and February when the waterfall is still flowing, and the climate is cooler. Since the waterfalls are located inside a private rubber plantation, there is no designated parking or entry fee.
