Nestled in the Idukki district of Kerala, Panchalimedu is a hill station and viewpoint that exudes natural beauty and historical significance. Myths and Controversy: Panchalimedu’s Rich History

Panchalimedu also boasts a rich mythological heritage, with local legends suggesting that the Pandavas and Panchali, characters from the epic Mahabharata, spent a year in exile here. The place is marked by a small temple dedicated to Goddess Bhuvaneswari and a circular pond known as Panchalikulam, making it a place of cultural and historical significance.

In 2019, Panchalimedu found itself in controversy when crosses were installed on the hill by Church authorities. Hindu groups protested, alleging encroachment of revenue land, and even installed a Trishula near the crosses. The matter was later resolved with the removal of the crosses following a notice from the District Collector, bringing tranquility back to this serene hill station.
