Exploring the Attractions of Peechi Dam
The dam is spread over a 3200-acre area. It was able to irrigate up to 17555 ha of land in Mukundapuram, Thrissur, Thalappally, and Chavakkad Taluk when it was fully constructed in 1957. A visit is worth paying to the Peechi-Vazhani Wildlife Sanctuary near the dam. Constructed in 1958, it occupies an area of 125 square km. A variety of flora and fauna are home to it. The highest point in the sanctuary is Ponmudi, with a height of about 923 m and an annual rainfall of about 3000 mm.
