Towering at 1,099 meters (3,606 feet) above sea level, this majestic mountain boasts a prominence of 177 meters or 581 feet and provides visitors with exclusive and stunning viewpoints that take your breath away. With five distinct hilltop points, the panoramic views of the surroundings are absolutely breathtaking.
In August 2020, Pettimudi Hill Top made headlines for the tragic landslide that claimed the lives of 62 people. However, despite this unfortunate incident, the hilltop remains a popular destination for camping, trekking, and tenting above the clouds. Pettimudi Hill Top is a popular tourist spot that draws travelers from all over the world. The path leading up to the hilltop spans about a kilometer and is surrounded by tall grasses, adding to the serene ambiance of the area.
Best Time to Visit Pettimudi Hill Top
To truly experience the magic of this location, it is best to visit early in the morning to witness the spectacular sunrise amidst the fog and clouds. I’m confident, the stunning evening view also will be undoubtedly a feast for the eyes.
While there is no entry fee or set visiting time, it is advisable to visit during daylight hours to minimize the risk of any potential hazards. To fully appreciate the splendor of Pettimudi Hill Top, it is recommended to plan your visit during the prime season between October and March.
How to Reach Pettimudi Hill Top
Pettimudi Hill Top is located 5 kilometers away from Adimali town and 19 kilometers away from Munnar. It is easily accessible by road, by hiring a taxi or a jeep from Adimali to reach the Hill. You can catch a glimpse of the peak from Adimaly town and reach the trek starting point by vehicle with the help of the map on this page. From there, a leisurely walk of less than 1 kilometer is required to reach the summit.
It is advisable to wear shoes with a good grip while trekking to the top, as the path can be quite slippery. The path to the top is nearly vertical and challenging, but the breathtaking views that await you at the summit are well worth the effort. This is an extraordinary destination that should not be missed, particularly if you’re traveling to Munnar. The panoramic view from the top includes the entire Adimaly town, making it a sight to behold. A small tea shop located near the starting point offers a perfect spot to unwind after your trek.
