Sahakari Spice Farm: A Tour Through Nature’s Bounty
Guests receive a warm welcome with an Aarti, garlands, and refreshing coconut water before embarking on a guided walk through spice gardens. The tour introduces a variety of aromatic plants, including cinnamon, nutmeg, and cardamom, with expert guides explaining their uses. Traditional Konkan dances like Fugdi and Jagor add a cultural touch to the experience. A highlight is the palm tree climbing demonstration, showcasing Goa’s age-old harvesting methods.
Experiences at Sahakari Spice Farm
For an additional fee, visitors can enjoy a unique elephant ride and bathing session, interacting with these gentle giants as they splash around in the water. The farm houses three elephants that take guests on a short round trip, making for an unforgettable experience.
The tour includes a delicious buffet served in a rustic restaurant, where meals are presented in banana leaves and coconut shell bowls. Both vegetarian and non-vegetarian options are available, featuring local delicacies like fried fish, prawn curry, and chicken curry, all made with fresh, farm-grown spices.
Visiting Information
Sahakari Spice Farm is located in Curti, Ponda, near the junctions of the Panjim-Belgaum Highway and Margao-Belgaum Bypass Road. It is open daily from 9 AM to 4:30 PM, with the best time to visit between October and March for pleasant weather. Monsoons (June–September) enhance the lush greenery, while summers (April–June) can be quite hot. Entry costs INR 500 for adults and INR 200 for children, covering the guided tour and lunch.
