Thaikadappuram Beach: Where Coastal Beauty Meets Conservation

Thaikadappuram’s shoreline stretches between the Arabian Sea and the Thejaswini River, creating a striking backdrop for long walks and quiet contemplation. From around September to January, the beach becomes a nesting ground for Olive Ridley Turtles. In response to this natural phenomenon, local conservationists from the NGO Neythal established a turtle breeding and protection centre here back in 2001, which continues to monitor and safeguard these remarkable creatures.

Beyond the turtle activity, the beach is a soothing spot to take in dramatic sunsets and slow down in nature’s quiet company. A major local feature is the 400-meter-long pedestrian bridge—the longest in Kerala—which spans the Thejaswini River and leads directly to the beach, offering scenic views along the way.
