If you’re seeking a serene and picturesque location to revel in nature’s beauty, then Anjumala Waterfalls near Erattupetta in Kottayam district, Kerala is a must-visit spot. Located in Moonnilavu Grama Panchayath, the waterfall is about 11 kilometers from Erattupetta and 11 kilometers from the well-known tourist destination, Illikkal Kallu.

Although Anjumala Waterfalls is not widely known, it is a breathtaking sight to see. The water cascades down from a height of approximately 100 feet, generating a misty ambiance and a calming sound. The waterfall is enveloped by rich, green forests and rubber plantations, further enhancing its charm and tranquility.

Explore Anjumala Waterfalls

To get to Anjumala Waterfalls, a brief detour from the main road onto a narrow path is necessary. After parking your vehicle near a small bridge, it takes approximately 10 minutes of walking to reach the waterfall. It’s important to note that the path can be steep and slippery, so proper shoes and caution are advised. To ensure a smooth and safe trip, hiring a local guide is also an option.

Upon arrival, visitors are captivated by the waterfall’s splendor and purity. They can relax and appreciate the view from the rocks or submerge themselves in the pool located at the base of the waterfall. The water is refreshing and translucent, with a fine mist spraying on your face. Furthermore, nature enthusiasts can venture into the nearby forest and witness various bird and butterfly species.

There is no entry fee for accessing Anjumala Waterfalls and one can visit this waterfall any time of the year, but it is more spectacular during the monsoon season when the water flow is high. You can also combine your visit with Illikkal Kallu, which offers panoramic views of the hills and valleys. Another attraction that is worth visiting is Kadavupuzha Waterfalls, another stunning waterfall located within a kilometer distance.
