Maniyanthram Hill Top, also called Maniyanthram Mudi, is a charming hillock tucked away in the verdant Manjalloor Panchayath of Kerala’s Ernakulam district. This hill station may not be as famous as its neighbors Thodupuzha and Munnar, but it boasts spectacular panoramas of the nearby valleys, hills, forests, and villages that will take your breath away. And let’s not forget the small stream that gracefully meanders through the enormous rock – it’s a sight that will leave you in awe.

Experience the Magic of Maniyanthram Hill Top

Manjalloor region boasts of picturesque teeming natural beauty and is the home to both the country’s largest pineapple market, Vazhakulam, and the scenic Maniyanthram Mudi. Maniyanthram Hill Top is situated at an altitude of about 1000 meters above sea level and is the second-highest peak in Ernakulam district after Illikkal Kallu. The hilltop offers a picturesque view of the lush greenery that stretches across the Manjalloor and Thodupuzha regions. Maniyathram’s natural allure and ease of access have made it a sought-after location for several Malayalam movies.

Maniyanthram Hill Top, as the name suggests, translates to “the place where the magic stone is,” and local folklore claims that a magical stone on the hill has wish-fulfilling powers. Apart from its mythical significance, the hill is also a treasure trove of biodiversity, hosting numerous rare and endemic species of flora and fauna. A visit to this hilltop offers the chance to witness breathtaking sunrises and sunsets from a stunning vantage point while basking in the cool and misty climate.

Best Time to Visit Maniyanthram Mudi

For nature enthusiasts, photographers, trekkers, and thrill-seekers alike, the Maniyanthram Hill Top is a must-visit destination. The serene ambiance offers a perfect opportunity to spend quality time with loved ones, away from the bustling city’s noise and pollution. However, exercise caution while driving on the steep and narrow road, and refrain from visiting during the rainy season when the conditions might turn slippery and hazardous. There is no entry fee or specific timings for visiting Maniyanthram. The ideal time to plan a visit to the Maniyanthram Hill Top is between October and March when the weather is delightful, and the surrounding areas are clearly visible.

Getting to Maniyanthram Hill Top

To reach the Maniyanthram Hill Top, take a detour from the Thodupuzha-Muvattupuzha road at Kadalikadu junction and proceed along a narrow, winding road for approximately 2 kilometers. Also, one can reach Maniyanthram Mudi by traveling about 3 kilometers from Palakuzhi junction on the Thodupuzha-Uunnukal road.

The routes are flanked by verdant plantations, forests, and streams. Upon arrival, park your vehicle at the top, where a mobile tower and shed are located. Get ready for an exhilarating trek-like climb to the top of the mountain, where you’ll be greeted by stunning views right from the start of your ascent. The hike to the summit is challenging but well worth it, offering breathtaking panoramas.

Along the way, take a refreshing break by washing your hands, face, and feet in the invigorating stream that flows down the mountain. And for those seeking an even more indulgent experience, a relaxing bath on top of the hill surrounded by the picturesque scenery is a must-try. Additionally, there is a revered pilgrimage site for Christians, known as the Maniyanthram Kurisumudi, marked by a cross atop the hill.
