Exploring the Rich Biodiversity of Nedumkayam Rainforest

The rainforest of Nedumkayam is part of the Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve. People rave about the clean air and pure water that flow in, as well as the unique species of flora and fauna that live there. Wild elephants and deer graze near a 19th-century British rest house overlooking the forest and the Chaliyar river.  The forest hosts over 200 bird species, some unique to the area, making it an Important Bird Area for conservation.

As a precaution to save the remaining forest space, stringent limits have been implemented. There is also an elephant taming center here. Nilambur, which includes Nedumkayam, has been chosen as Kerala’s second ecotourism destination. It is a lovely and useful tourist destination. To access the forest zone, one must first obtain permission from the forest department.
