Nilambur Bungalow Hill

Nilambur Bungalow Hill (Nilambur Bungalow Kunnu) is a Bungalow situated in Nilambur, Malappuram district, Kerala. Under British colonial rule, the Imperial Forest Service constructed it in 1929. The bungalow’s original intention was to watch the Tippu Sultan’s army approach via Nadukani Churam.

The bungalow is surrounded by 100-year-old mahogany trees that were planted during colonial times to be used as wood for the Portuguese to ship to Portugal. This activity was threatened by the Malabar people’s tenacious opposition to the Portuguese’s cruelty, which was fierce and eventually ended in victory. Many different types of flora and fauna can be found here. The bonnet macaque, gray langur, wild boar, junglefowl, hare, and porcupine are among the most common wild animals.

Nilambur Bungalow Hill offers an awe-inspiring view of the verdant valleys and the lush green forest that envelops them. Although the hill is situated very close the Nilabur town, one visiting the place will surely experience tranquility and serenity. Visitors to the hill would only need 1-2 hours to completely explore the Bungalow and its surroundings. The sky view path offers a great experience to the visitors and a walk through it should not be missed by those visiting the Nilambur Bungalow Kunnu. Nilambur Bungalow Hill is open all days of the week except Monday, from 9 AM to 5 PM. The entry fee is INR 20 per person and there is an additional charge for the camera. Bungalow Hill is located near the Chaliyar River and is only 1 kilometer inside Chandhakuunnu, Nilambur. It can be easily accessed by walking or hiring an auto-rickshaw. Visitors also have the option of driving their vehicle to the site. For those traveling by train, the nearest railway station is Nilambur, situated just 5 kilometers away. Meanwhile, the closest airport is Calicut International Airport, which is located approximately 47 kilometers from the hill.
