The Battle of Pookkottur was fought in 1921 in Malabar province of Northern Kerala by the Mappilas of Malabar against the British army during anti-colonial struggles.
Pookkottur is a village in the Eranad taluk of Malappuram, Kerala. It is located on National Highway 213 with a state road connecting it to Manjeri. It was the epicentre of the Malabar Rebellion of 1921, which shook the British government in Madras Province’s erstwhile Malabar District.
